Response to Intervention
Changes in federal and state laws have directed schools to focus more on helping all children learn by addressing problems earlier within the general education setting.
These new laws emphasize the importance of providing high quality, scientifically-based instruction and interventions, and hold schools accountable for the adequate yearly progress of all students.
Our district is committed to ensuring educational success for every student. Because every student learns differently, District 90 schools use a tiered approach to instruction, known nationally as Response to Intervention or RtI. RtI focuses on providing research-based interventions to assist struggling students in succeeding within the general education curriculum. Through standard screening and progress monitoring, schools can provide immediate assistance to those students identified as needing early interventions.
